Mono Monday : : strength

green chilli   500 - 10,000 SHU
  red chilli
    jalapeño   2,500-8,000 SHU
      Hungarian hot wax
        finger chilli
          bishop's hat
            bird eye   100,000-225,000 SHU
              scotch bonnet   100,000–350,000 SHU
                    Carolina reaper   2,200,000 SHU  (omg!)
The 'heat' or 'strength' of chilli peppers was historically measured in Scoville heat units (SHU), which is a measure of the dilution of an amount of chilli extract added to sugar syrup before its heat becomes undetectable to a panel of tasters; the more it has to be diluted to be undetectable, the more powerful the variety & therefore the higher the rating.

I congratulate all you Blippers for the fortitude & strength that you've demonstrated in these past days.  Blipfoto is not a spent force; we showed our solidarity last week in our world-wide joining of hands ~ we are not a "provincial granny club, taking wonky photographs of cats", we are a vibrant & creative global community.

... many thanks to chantler63 for hosting this month's Mono Monday challenge, & for this week's inspiring theme of 'strength'; here's some more mm60 entries ...
