Black-crowned Night Heron

This is a 'scraping the bottom of the barrel' photo! I grabbed a shot of this Night Heron in the low light and it is a long way off, but he was obviously looking to settle on my bit of the river. The scary thing about Night Herons is their red eyes & although this photo has been over processed you can still see one of its head streamers. Because they are not usually seen in the daytime I don't think I will get another shot of this bird sadly for my collection. I do have a lovely one of an immature bird, which I wrongly labelled as a Striated Heron, but for now this one is at least giving you an impression of this elusive bird!
