On Some Days

Carrying.

One of my year groups are going to create a painting of themselves carrying something.  It is an experience we all have in common.  We talked about how the way things are carried depends upon their size, weight, value, fragility and shape.  We then did a series of sketches using the children themselves as models posed in a range of positions for carrying.  This little cherub is gently holding a glass paper weight.  Once the drawing practice was over the children had to sketch out their composition for the painting.  Lots of thinking for them and it all went okay.  I took some of the colour out of this image.
Wonderful result in the cricket last night.
