A very nice man

A wonky end to a lovely day full of kids creativity.

It was our last time at the annual 'Grandparents Day' at school which we've attended for about 10 years since Elsa started going there.

It's a glorious display of performances of all kinds by all the children who are wheeled in and out of the hall in their year groups. The smallest sang about mini beasts while wearing their handmade caterpillar crowns and the biggest - year six performed Thriller, with Alice on drums dressed as a zombie. The band (including Alice on keyboard) performed a medley of disco hits and there was all kinds of fun from gymnastics and karate to dancing and drumming as well as unintentional hilarity from children eagerly spotting their parents, singing too loud or in the wrong places and the (7 year old) boy who wore a tuxedo, bow tie and shades because he could.

Then on to the local library for Alice to sing in a brilliant schools choir. We have our very own Gareth Malone in our area - Oscar Wood - he's a complete star. Songs included Space Oddity and a Jewish Folk song, beautifully sung with harmonies and parts and budding soloists.

Then we went to watch Elsa perform with her new drama group in the evening. I went with my Mum and Dad but, not 100 yards from the house my dad drove into a low hard-to-see bollard on a corner. So we ended the day with insurers, a tow truck and tea to calm my Mum down. Nobody was hurt though and Alice and AlfeeTee were there to see Elsa.

Phew.
