Lake Vembanad

We have left the highlands, passed through the midlands of Kerala and are now down in the back waters. We stopped for lunch at a rubber plantation and were treated to a home 'Catholic Christian' meal of various meats and vegetables.
We are now staying at a huge, inland lake, Lake Vembanadu, which we reached by taking a boat along a peaceful canal. Large 'rice boats' were tied up along the side; these had once carried rice but now are used as homes or accommodation for tourists and even have air conditioning on them. It is a very peaceful setting.
