Pigeon pie for dinner

This is our hall. If we're going to eat game, we hang it for a bit before we eat it. We're going to have these pigeons for a Saturday night treat.
Actually, I lie. It's the scullery at Charlecote Park, a National Trust property in Warwickshire. Technophobe and I visited there last Saturday for the second day of a photo course, but we didn't get much chance to explore. I therefore returned this afternoon with C (Nikonabike) to have a bit more of a look around.
Unfortunately, the house closes at 3:30 until March 27th, and from then it is open until 4:30. The early closing meant that by the time we arrived at the front door, it was locked. We had headed  for the kitchens and scullery first, which have a separate entrance, so at least we saw some of the interior.
They had the lovely old kitchen range lit, so it was very cosy in there - probably much warmer than the rest of the house. I wish that whoever cleans everything in that kitchen would come round to my house for a while. The guides working in the kitchen were cooking drop scones on top of the range, and spreading them thickly with home made lemon curd, so maybe we lingered in there just a little too long.
We could have walked around the parkland where there are many deer roaming, but C was getting very cold and his shoulder was beginning to be painful (he dislocated just over 2 weeks ago), so we went back home.
Oh well, we shall just have to go back again another day. I wonder what they'll be cooking then?
