The End of an Era

This shop has been in Beauly since 1858 . They are often referred to as the ;'guardians of tweed'. They have a large selection of tweed and some are woven specially for particular sporting estates. .Her Majesty the Queen Mother was a customer and the shop has two Royal warrants.

It has been a family concern but after four generations it has been sold to James Sugden and Charles Brooke.. James Sugden has run Johnstons of Elgin for over 20 years. So he is well acquainted with quality garments.
It is one of those old fashioned shops where you are 'served' by well dressed polite ladies wearing tweed or tartan skirts and twinsets. They do 'made to measure'  and the knitwear is amazing.
I hope the new owners will protect this image.
There are rumours that they will be having a sale, I shall have to look out the pearls to wear with the twinset!
