Saturday selfie nr. 11

Last Thursday women across Iceland decided to show their support after a young woman in Iceland tweeted a picture of her nipple to support FreeTheNipple. Within minutes she had been verbally attacked and slutshamed by immature and sexist boys into taking the picture down. Icelandic women were outraged and all Thursday women across the country (including parliamentarians, mothers, grandmothers, breast cancer survivors etc.) took of their tops, protested bare-breasted and posted pictures of their breasts to twitter and Facebook (where they were immediately taken down). The objective was to empower women and refuse the sexualisation of the female body, in particular breasts, under the slogan breasts are not genitals, to take control over their own bodies and reject slutshaming and revenge pornography.
Here is my belated support as I didn't want to impede on their day. Go Icelandic women, continue to be strong, independent and wonderful.
