Nightfall

The day started with a gentle trek. 
Just as we reached the highest point K spotted a rattlesnake! After a few photos (at the furthest end of my 135mm) we gave it a wide berth. 

A wonderful afternoon in the company of K.
Later, a drive into the desert for sunset and stars. K, E & S sat on a rock, sipping bubbly and eating calzones as I tried a number of long exposures. 
As you can see, even the desert has light pollution. I quite like it. It looks like a set from the original Star Trek series to me. 

Oh and this is better large to see the constellations Orion & Taurus amongst others.
