A really tall smoke stack

I took my first hike of the season this morning and climbed up to about 6,000 feet in elevation above sea level.

As I turned around, this was my view.

This smoke stack belongs to Kennecott Copper mine.  It is one of the largest copper mines in the world.

The smoke stack is 1,215 feet high.

I would have to drive about 25 miles from where I was standing to take this picture to get to it.

It is that big.

The mountain peak in the back ground is called deseret peak.

It reaches a little over 11,000 feet above sea level.  I try and hike it a couple of times each year.

Just waiting for the snow to fully melt before trying it though.
