Bee Bliss

That's what our back yard is for bees right now.

You hear a loud buzzing sound and see bees darting in all directions as you walk past the flower-laden blueberry bushes, evergreen huckleberry bushes, and salal (Gaultheria shallon). (The latter two are hardy Northwest natives with tiny flowers similar to blueberry flowers. )

I had a wander through the back yard about noon today, trying to take photos with my camera's standard lens (28-90mm) of bees, flowers, new rose leaves, and other tiny delights.

My new rose leaves photo is technically better, but the little bee won my heart with her headlong dive into that blossom.
