Carrigaphooca Tower House

Today was our archaeology field trip, we have only had the one as a group
probably because most of us are juggling work as well as the course.
First stop was Carrigaphooca Tower house, what an imposing building sited on a large rock outcrop. We were able to have the key to the inside and climb the original spiral staircase to the top floor, we learned all about the different features inside and out and how to measure and record such a site.

Then we headed to the ecclesiastical site at St Gobnaids, the nearby Gortnatiobratan stone circle and finally Kylefinchin ringfort and standing stone. Back to the car just in time before the rain started to lash down!
