Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie and the Aussies win the cup!

Followed the World Cup Cricket on my iPad this morning. The Aussies won the Gold Cup, but it wasn't the exciting finish of some of the other games - many of them down the last ball! Well done, Aussies, though I was supporting the Kiwis...

We've been considering the summer holidays. Thoughts were focussed on a week in a dog friendly cottage not too far away. But really, the prices are ridiculous in the summer! And it could rain the whole time.

So thoughts have now turned to a more sensible holiday all round - a few days away in a European city, sans Archie. In fact, we could probably do two of them for the price of a week in a cottage in Newton Stewart! And the £ is so strong at the moment. We'll book something today.

My mum always used to fashion wee cups out of any foil sweetie papers, so after I'd gobbled the Easter Egg up, I saved the paper and fashioned it into a perfect Gold Cup.

I've awarded it to Archie for being a good sport in front of the camera, since those Aussie cricketers are showing no interest in coming to pick it up.

EDIT: After an hour or so on flight websites (the destination being flexible) and even longer on hotel websites, we gave up for the time being. A week in London is planned anyway, and perhaps a few days away, with the lad, would be a better idea for the summer. We can do city breaks any time...
