Thoughts

A man draws a line on the ground and says to section of the crowd 'You go this side' to the others 'you go that side.'
A voice says 'Why?'
The Man draws a pistol and shoots the speaker dead.
Before the body hits the ground a voice says 'Why? To what end?'
They are shot twice, once for each question.
This time there is a pause, a heartbeat, then a voice says 'Why? To what end? For who's gain?'
They are shot three times, one bullet for each question.
Now the crowd know, they will get no answers beyond death, the line is arbitrary for its creators inscrutable purpose.
Now also they know a revolver has but six bullets.
They surge forward, obliterating the line and remove its creator from this life.
We draw lines in the sand, across the seas, over mountains and through the valleys. We obliterate civilizations and commit genocides for those lines.
Do we ever stop to ask 'Why? To what end? For who's gain?'
