My Life With Luna

Saxtead Green Post Mill

Despite it pouring with rain this morning we went out as planned to photograph the Post Mill and Saxtead Green, a little hamlet a few miles north of Woodbridge.
Find it we did, but we only took two captures, from inside the car - and even then I managed to get wet as the rain was driving horizontal against my open window!!   Sod's Law was that as we came back home it began to brighten up and now at 6.30pm the sun is shining and the sky is blue!!
Saxtead Green Post Mill is a corn mill whose body revolves on its base and is one of many built in Suffolk from the 13th century.   The design of this one dates back to 1796 and although there has been a mill on the site from that time various restorations have been carried out over the years.  The latest was a new pair of sails in 2008.   Nevertheless I still think it looks rather grand - and would look even better against a bright blue sky!
