Soggy Derwentwater

It wasn't a day for a big walk! The wind and the rain put paid to that but we managed a short wander around the shore of Derwentwater. 

You may be able to see the water droplets on this shot, so it wasn't the best weather for photography either. Anyway, this is the famous Derwentwater tree, with the lake and Catbells in the background. You can just see a bank of rain coming in from the left too. Even the Derwentwater launch wasn't running today, so that was how rotten the weather was.

We had a surprising and rather pleasant encounter around the lake. I bumped into someone I met exactly this time last year on my LPH holiday. It was lovely to get a quick catch up and then we both went on our different ways.

We'd also done a bit of celebrity spotting in a cafe in Keswick earlier on too - the British actress, Helen Baxenedale, was having breakfast with her family while we had our coffee.
