Retiro Retreat

It was a bit of an effort to get up this morning and get to the Egyptian Embassy for opening time to avoid queues and hand in the required papers. Anyway, we did it!

We then discovered the amazing food market - 'Mercado de La Paz', near Retiro Park. Our appetites were satisfied by cafe con leche, bocadillo de jamon, washed down by another coffee, and, as one must when in Madrid - churros. This was in a great, bustling local cafe in the market - just the kind of place we love.

Then a walk in Retiro Park, where, in the sun, I'd have loved to swap my cords and boots for linen trousers and sandals.

Despite having a few nice pics of Madrid today, I think this one captures the feeling of today well.
