Engineering tailings

After a day reading historical Motueka Harbour minutes at the Tasman District Council offices we three ladies of the research room
called at my cousins place to return some historical records and looked through his engineering workshop. Spotted a bin under a lathe with these coils of steel in. Got a long explanation of why they are different colours. All to do with heat and different metals, I think.
