Best thing about the day

First day in Paris proper.

We successfully negotiated the Metro. We unsuccessfully lost an umbrella. Which sucked. Cos it rained. Relentlessly.

We checked out the Notre Dame. We ate Croque Madames wot were bigger than our actual heads.

We got drenched.

We found the 'secret' entrance to the Louvre which saved us an hour of queuing (Porte Des lions if you're interested), and we looked at a lot of art.

Girls were brilliant. I think they had fun. They were told by a very sweet American lady that they are so beautiful that they should be in a Botticelli painting (I agreed).
