A New Day

Rare Visitor

Some of you may see the starling regularly, but this is the first time I've seen them in ages and this was one of three who came calling this morning for just a few minutes.  They looked like young birds in their first winter coats, as they still had so many spots and little of the later iridescence. Did you know that mature females have pink at the base of their beaks and males have blue?!!

Having done a bit of research, they may even have been juvenile Rose-coloured starlings from Eastern Europe, so hope they find a happy home here and I might see them again!

PS. Have done a bit more research and decided this is NOT a Rosy starling after all, but it's still very pretty!
