What lies ahead?

This sculpture is in a village called Gatehouse of Fleet, it is made of wood and is situated near what was a mill.  I am a bit of a fan of sculptures and installations outdoors because in most cases you can touch them and sometimes, depending on what it is, kids can climb over them as well.  In a gallery it's usually the case that you can look but not touch.  I didn't see any explanation for this but it was pointing towards part of the village and the hills in the distance beyond.
