Polly Parakeet in Birchfields Park

Today I saw this Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri), by its plumage either a juvenile of female. These are sometimes called Ring Parakeets, the ring being [more] noticeable in the adult male. These birds are quite common in the UK nowadays, but more likely to be seen in groups I think. Their origin is disputed but quite possibly many are the descendants of escaped birds who like the British habitat. They eat most anything, and are predicted to become a serious pest before too long. BTW, Birchfields Park is the nearest park to where we live in Manchester.
