The mists of time - growth for the soul

I am sure that we all know (or even have been) fair weather photographers that see dreich weather and so don't bother going out or even pack up if it isn't what they were expecting. Today could have been one of those days, to get this shot it means getting up at 5am, walking up a relatively steep hill with a bag full of gear and a heavy tripod. Five minutes before sunrise there was a pea-souper with hardly anything being visible, then over the next half hour the mist started to clear allowing me to get this atmospheric image of the Balmoral Hotel clock and the Scott Monument and then eventually this shot of the Castle fully illuminated by the Easter Sunday sun.

It's mornings like these that make you grow as a photographer and you learn that you just need to be patient and tenacious. Get up, be in place and you never know what may happen!
