The Stalker

The sun came out and suddenly the river, that has seemed so empty all winter, started to reveal it's secrets.

Approaching a huge sunken tree, brought down by the winter floods, a long, spooky shadow swept over the top of the trunk and into the shadows beneath.

Watching for a while longer and out came this beautiful pike.  Certainly in excess of 10lb, maybe closer to 20, and a good 3-4ft long.  She (the big ones are usually females) cruised up and down about 50yds of the bank over the same route three times while we stood there.  Each lap ending with a quick dash around the tree and then back to creeping along the shallows looking for an unsuspecting lunch...
