Sun again

They’re bold and brash and everywhere.
But these daffodils in the garden were positively glowing in the sunshine today.

Our three visitors left this morning and headed back to London. What a lovely few days we have had – and the weather has been wonderful.

Yesterday I posted a picture of Scordale Valley, near Hilton, in Cumbria. I think I need to explain something about it. It is indeed a dream of a place. You can walk along a good track, right by a stream of clear babbling water. Hills on every side and the track seems to go on forever. It even has layers of history – early settlements and later mineworkings. It is peaceful and beautiful; quite perfect.

However . . .

It is rarely accessible, because it is a Ministry of Defence military training area. It is used almost all the time for military personnel to practise killing people, blowing things up and other things that they like to play at. Public access is limited to Sunday afternoons after 1pm and a few designated weekends through the year, when they say they will do no firing.

So, this valley that is in the middle of an Area of Outstanding Beauty, is rarely available for anyone to appreciate it.  I make no further comment!
