One River: Don Meets Dearne

Another day of lovely weather. Hard to believe we decided against doing this walk exactly one week ago because the weather was just horrendous. Mr PB joined me on the next leg of my One River Challenge, backtracking a little to Mexbrough, then taking a slight detour to Denaby Ings Nature Reserve to follow the River Dearne for a short distance to its confluence with the Don, then onward to Conisbrough.  It was a good day and route for wildlife: lots of butterflies, mainly Peacocks and Small Tortoiseshells, a snake - possibly a grass snake, but it was too quick for me,  Spring flowers including Sweet Violets, Wood Anemones , Coltsfoot and Celandine, and close to 40 species of birds from Kingfishers to Buzzards, Long-tailed tits, Chiffchaffs, Shelduck, Great Spotted Woodpecker ... the list goes on.
But in true One River style, this is an iPhone shot of the confluence of the 2 rivers.
