Marsh Harrier at Cley

On Easter Day we decided to head over to Cley-next-the-Sea to the wildlife reserve on the marshes. It was quite cloudy at times, but we saw quite a lot of Avocets, Godwits, Teal and Redshanks. We also saw a Stoat scamper past the hide. It was really surprising at how quickly it moved. We also saw some frogs in one of the dykes.

The highlight of the day was watching the Marsh Harriers. At one point we saw 5 circling over the marshes, and occasionally we saw a couple displaying together and fleetingly locking talons.

This is about as close as they came to the hides, and you can clearly see some nesting material being carried away.

In the afternoon we called in at Blakney and had a walk around the quay and along the sea wall in some lovely warm spring sunshine. We also had a sit down on a bench and watched the world go by for a bit.
