This morning, not one, but two Monarch Butterflies emerged!
This photo shows three stages of Chrysalis development
- The front chrysalis is splitting open as the butterfly is in the process of emerging
- Back left, the wings of the butterfly can be seen through the wall of the black/mature chrysalis. This butterfly emerged about an hour later.
- Even though this green chrysalis is at an earlier stage of development, the wings are becoming more visible each day.
I’m so pleased you loved the elegant beauty of yesterdays Monarch Butterfly. Many thanks for the stars and hearts – and of course, the lovely comments.
As usual, this has been tagged so this blip can be added to the series of photos I have taken of the Monarch Butterfly.
UPDATE - this looks best viewed in large and against the dark background.
