Which Building is Older?

Sandwiched inbetween four identical modern waterfront office flats there is a Art Nouveau style building called 'het Zalmhuis' - Dutch for Salmon House.

It's history takes us back to 1875 when Adriaan Dekkers builds a roofed market place where several local fish species were being traded.

It soon evolved into the biggest Salmon auction in the Netherlands!

In 1905 they were granted a permit to build this Art Nouveau structure on poles above the water that was in business till 1955 when it was demolished.

Almost 50 years later it was granted a rebuild permit on condition that it would be constructuded simultaneously with the four office flats.

So odd enough the buildings are exactly the same age, but the Zalmhuis at least has heritage!

It was resurrected early in 2000's and currently facilitates a restaurant and party centre.
