Hope Street

Liverpool felt quiet tonight as I walked up the steps to the Metroplitan Cathedral to look first at the Susannah Heron sculpture Still Point. Maybe because the red half of the city at least were more focused away to Blackburn in their last chance saloon of the FA Cup.

Talking of which, I had been in town to meet Jay and boyfriend Ben for a quick pint at the Philharmonic Dining Rooms. They had come over for the night to see A Midsummer Night's Dream on at the new Everyman. The theatre was winner of the Sterling Prize in 2014, but for me the affectionally known Paddy's Wigwam by Frederick Gibberd remains the only inspiration on Hope Street.
