Smiffy's Travel South

By FancyTatt

Forgotten World Highway

Today was another complete washout weather wise so not much sight seeing going on, however, it was Smiffy's turn to drive the Forgotten World Highway (H43) (I did it a few years ago) which cuts across the North Island from Taumarunui, King Country to Stratford, Taranaki.

It's 158km of winding roads with just a couple of loo stops on the way. It's a twisty, turny, gravelly, rocky, challenging route that definitely keeps you awake! We only saw 2 cars going our way and about 6 going in the other direction! Due to the weather there had been some rockfall, so had to take it easy.

Then back to Inglewood for a cuppa and a catch-up before we headed to The Treehouse in New Plymouth for dinner and their Thursday night Music Quiz.

With a little extra help (Gazza, Nick, Rachel and Joanne, Fiona & Ian) the team came 3rd winning a $15 bar tab and a 6 pack of Desperados.

Just right as it's was Rachael's English birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHICCA X

Also met up with Gazza, who we happen to have met last August at a Garden Party - small world!
