Comma

Busy day at the nature reserve today after driving down from Silverdale yesterday - mowing, gate repair and my first butterfly transect of the year. I saw Brimstone, Peacock, Comma and Small Tortoiseshell during the day, but only the first two of these were recorded on the transect - still, a start. Many of the flowers are about 10-14 days behind 'normal flowering', but that means they are now coming in a rush and the mix of Primrose, Violet, Ground Ivy, Lesser Celendine and Barren Strawberry is stunning in places.
