Ducks Life

Our Indian Runner Ducks discovered the loch today. Not sure I will ever see them again now!! Had a busy day with a journalist and photographer from The Scottish Farmer magazine come and do a wee story on us today, mainly about how the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Reform will affect us. Our concern is that the government has yet again made it extremely difficult if not impossible for young farmers entering their first farm to get any money to help set up the business. We had no help from the government in the last CAP and it looks like we have been written out again. The government likes people to believe that they are encouraging and helping new farmers into farming but there are so many hoops to jump through and have such stringent impossible eligibility criteria that the people that need it most are written out of getting the money available!! 

I wish I had had my camera to take photos of the photographer trying to take photos of the livestock. He even had us catch 2 lambs to hold for a picture with them. Now that took a bit of time trying to catch a couple whilst being knocked over by their mums who were desperate for the food we had. Anyway he got a few shots he was happy with in the end!! I'm not used to being on the other side of the lens!! Actually hate having my picture taken.
