Composition Matters

How would you compose a shot like this? Where you have a strong horizontal element bisecting the picture.

I tried it with the bridge in a more central position but that didn't look right. With this one I was trying for thirds but was aware of the large top part of the photo that is just empty. Though it was quite a lovely blue sky.

I had thought about photographing some pylons today as the first of the newly designed ones went up today in Nottinghamshire. The previous ones have been with us since the 1930s. They were designed by an American company while the new ones have been designed by a Dane.
