New levels

After a quiet night, we enjoyed an extraordinary lie in before heading to Tangasdal.  On the way, Rich kept a look out for the golden eagles a local couple had told us often hung around over the hill. Luckily, he spotted them and we pulled over and watched them soar for a while.

With mostly cloud cover and a brisker breeze today, we combined a couple of walks that took in an Iron Age fort on an exposed headland (where this photo is taken from), a fine hill and a dramatic black cliff coastline with some fabulous sea stacks at a point that gave a real feeling of exposure with the surging sea below.

We were only out for about 5 hours and the ascent wasn't huge, but, with the stronger breeze, tussocky ground and ups and downs, we're both shattered. Little Dog is also tired and tucked up in her bed with more room than us!

Tonight, we are in Borve campsite, apparently the most westerly in the UK and definitely the best and most well-kept facilities I have come across. We had a lovely chat with the owner who pointed out the northern diver in the bay.

We have reached new levels in the van. Rich, in bed, with plastic wine glass in one hand and book in the other, asked, "Please could you turn my page for me?" After doing the washing up, how could I say no?
