Too Many Eagles

Bird watching is a good way to live in the moment. Lots of action happened at exact the right time for my short visit to our Eagle Watch spot. The male and female flew from the nest area about the same time; he escorted her to a fir tree where she landed near the top. (The picture above is her approaching the landing). Then he soared up to confront another mature bald eagle approaching their nesting area. There was some maneuvering and they went claw to claw, but no contact. I got a photo of it, but too high and far away to be worthy of a blip. I can see what is happening, but not too clearly. The intruder finally left; the pair returned to their perch near the nest.

Our local Eagle Expert says the commotion may cause so much stress that the female will not lay an egg. We will wait and see.
