Nont Sarah's

High on the moors (1,155 ft) above Scammonden Reservoir (and the M62 motorway) is this pub - the Nont Sarah's (Aunt Sarah's).
The story is that, sometime in the 19th century, a local lad wanted to open a pub but didn't have the required money.
He went to his Aunt who loaned him the necessary. He was so grateful that he named this pub after her.
The legend is that the pub is haunted - and one of the ghosts is Aunt Sarah - checking up on how her investment is doing.
She can't be very pleased because the pub - which was once very popular - fell on hard times and was closed for about two years.
Then in 2014 someone bought it and part of it became "Spooks at Nont Sarah's", but only opened on Sundays - 10.00am - 4.00 pm.
I'm not sure whether it's open now or not.
