L'heure de l'apéro

Two years ago, the only shop in the village closed down. It has to be said that in its final incarnation  it had been a pretty pathetic grocery store -- it wasn't unusual to go there and find there was no butter, or bread, or eggs. A few months ago then, we were overjoyed when someone we know quite well, Jean-François, pitched up at the Mairie saying he wanted to open a shop in the village. If anyone can make it work, he can -- he'd already successfully launched the shop in Fabrezan before handing it over to someone else. The Mairie provided the premises in the form of a little-used function room next door to the post office, did the necessary work to make it suitable, and the shop opened a week ago to general acclaim -- much larger than the old one, and very well stocked.

Of course there had to be an official opening ceremony, and that meant aperos and much gossip in the street this evening -- all very convivial.
