Coniston Copper Mines

The best weather of the week saw us planning a mountain day. Over the years I have taken many groups of children on outdoor activity weeks and Coniston Old Man has been the choice for the mountain day.

So it was down memory lane as we walked up above the copper mines valley. The remains of the mining are still evident so I could not walk past without recording the remains of the workings. This also was a pit stop for hot chocolate with the children to help those who were flagging.

Despite using walking poles both our knees were creaking on the steep descent to Levers Water.
