Newly Oiled

The floor in the living-room was oiled this afternoon and it looks amazing.  Really.

When we got to the house this morning we discovered a problem - you've probably guessed what it was.  The automatic shutter for our big window was down and would not go back up.  We tried the obvious thing of pressing the up button but it did not help.  We tried exploring various button combinations but that didn't help either.

The instruction manual is somewhere in one of three huge folders that are in the cellar.  We didn't have the time to sit and go through that today and since we're not actually living there, it doesn't make a great deal of a difference.

And then we filled the day with other things - painting, getting speckled with paint, cleaning up after painting, DIY shopping, food shopping, new mattress shopping.

I took my first things to the house today - 2 pictures of my mum are now sitting on a chest of drawers in my office.  I also started packing my things as well - I don't have very much.  The three boxes that were my worldly possessions when I left Edinburgh have expanded to about 6.  I suspect my new office is going to look quite empty.
