Waiting

A lovely last morning at Word Alive, followed by a rather longer than it should have been trip home. Thankfully I was able to leave earlier than the train timetable had indicated, but I was not home a corresponding amount of time earlier due to some incident in Wolverhampton and bank holiday railway line work. I missed the worst of that by getting off the train at Oxford, it was only going one stop further before everyone was onto rail replacement buses! It took a long time to get into Wolverhampton, as something earlier had held lots of trains up, meaning that there were no platforms available. This was then made worse as many of the drivers for the trains which were sitting at platforms could not make it as they were stuck on trains which couldn't get in to the platforms! I was also sorry for the large group of about 15 people who didn't get off the train at Leamington Spa in time (about half our carriage was getting of there for some reason, and they all have very complicated luggage, which was what delayed some of them), so it left with them still on board! Banbury customer services must have been fun as we didn't see a conductor between the two stops, and more than half of those stuck were Japanese tourists, rather than locals who know how our systems work (well, theoretically!).
