Hop, step and a jump

It's been the Irish Universities track and field championships at the nearby athletics for the past couple of days, so we dragged the kids down to watch. The sight of so many healthy young things munching on their kale sandwiches before their warm-up routines just made me a bit nauseous, though. What happened to students going out partying?

A bit of light drizzle started so we left them to their running and their jumping and their throwing. Weirdos.

Continuing the sporting theme, we then watched the Grand National. It was the first time we've done this as a family, since we've been away for the past few years. So most of the time was spent explaining what was going on to the kids. We picked up a couple of horses each, with the girl child emerging victorious by choosing the winner. Shame she didn't call the bookies - it came in at 25 to 1.

And then the Boat Races - with Oxford sweeping the board in all four races, including the historic first same-day-as-the-men Women's Race. So that was good.

And then Arsenal grinding out a typical 1-0 win at Burnley.

I'm quite exhausted after all that...
