Palladian Bridge at Stowe House

An early start to get to Stowe House for coffee.  The rain we met on the way washed the air and put off other visitors! The gardens were empty until later in the afternoon. The free tour of the house was very informative and the charity charged with restoration is doing a great job.

This Palladian Bridge dates to 1742 and was inspired by a similar bridge at Wilton. There is only one other of this design in the UK at Prior Park. The one at Stowe uniquely does not have steps, so visitor could complete the circuit of the garden in their carriages.

In the background is the Gothic Ruin. It is available for holiday lets!
