Touching the Bubble

This is my favorite of the photos I took today. I liked that I happened to catch the moment just before the bubble popped and the boy was delighted. The Bubble Guy was making huge bubbles and entertaining the Sunday crowd in the park today.

Arvin and I had a great day. We woke relatively early and headed off around ten for breakfast at the Civil Service Cafe. Their espresso is wonderful and today we had Quiche and a spinich pastry. Both were delicious.

Then we took the subway to the Neue Gallery on Fifth Avenue. We got there just as it opened and were surprised to see there was a bit of a line. I expect it is because of the "Woman in Gold" movie that features an amazing Klimpt painting that is in the Neue Museum. What a beautiful piece of work it is. And we loved the other Klimpt pieces too. Also the weird and wonderful work of Egon Shiele. (not sure I'm spelling that right) We really enjoyed the museum.

It is right near Central Park so we walked into the park and immediately came upon the Bubble Guy. We were mezmerized and watched him for quite awhile.

Then we walked along the Jacquie Kennedy Reservoir across the park. We wended our way to Columbus Avenue where we had lunch at the Cotta Restaurant... pizza and Ceasar salad. It was delicious.

We then wandered back toward the park where we took a different subway heading back toward Brooklyn. By sheer luck and the kindness of strangers, we found our way back to Jason's loft and are now resting here. I have no idea if we will do anything else today. We are both very full and delighted with our day. The weather was magical and we had a great time exploring Manhattan on our own.

End note: Arvin and I did a bit of shopping to stock up some of the stuff we've been using at Jason's and to get something light to eat. And some gelatto. Well, why not?

Jason's teacher Christine came over and they worked out some electrical stuff for the upcoming show by Keekwyn and the Hackers, their group. Christine is Keekwyn and Jason is one of the Hackers. He plays blues guitar. They all sound great together singing some great oldies and some new pieces written by various members of the band. It was good to see Christine. It has been awhile.
