Eventful day

Both driver ad navigator are unhurt!

His last rally.
Thanks to all the MSA crap about how often seats, harnesses, helmets, etc have to be replaced himself is having to bow out of the sport he loves so much. To replace his seats like for like is £1000.00. We don't have that kind of money, it's all about keeping it for the bigger boys and I don't suppose the fact that three of the top guys of the MSA are manufacturers.... Pocket lining!
Just taking the seats and harnesses as an example, you have -I think- a five year life, now in that five years you can, given the funds, go out rallying every month... 60 events and your equipment is considered safe throughout. My husband goes out two or three times a year, that should equate to 20 years usage. Tell me, where is the logic?
So today was his last time out. In 15 events over 6 years he has always finished, never had to retire due to mechanical failure, only once come a cropper and that was only slight at Cadwell, managed to keep on track and finish the day.
His very pretty 309 was to be on eBay this week.
The good news is that it is fixable and it shouldn't be too difficult.
Also it wasn't driver error or bad prepping.
The steering rack snapped!
He was on a short straight and only doing 45/50mph, went up and over a mound of soil and landed wheels to the sky.
All praise to the marshals and ambulance crew who were there within two minutes.
