Giving a hand

In two ways.

This morning the walking group went on a walk near the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Telford's masterpiece  - the longest and highest aqueduct in the country.
We were walking along the canal when a lady caught her foot in a deep hole in the towpath and fell badly. We think that she has broken her shoulder and/or arm as she was in a lot of pain. We were nowhere near a road so she had to walk (with support) to a road. There were a couple of retired nurses with us so they made a sling out of someone's scarf and the leader ran the couple of miles to the car park to get their car to get her to hospital. Unfortunately it was her first walk with us, we hope she'll try it again when she's better.

The photo is of the hand sculpture at the end of the aqueduct, it celebrates brick making in the area. It seemed an appropriate blip as a number of people gave a helping hand to the casualty.
