Yellowhammer

A day off with a hire car in hand, what luxury! We headed north to the Loch o' the Lowes, in order to check out the osprey action. It looked like the new female is settling in well, with the male returning to the nest frequently (although with a regrettable lack of fish, from the female's point of view). We then became engrossed in watching the little birds chasing each other off the feeders outside the visitor centre until we realised that we had accumulated a cloud of midges around our heads and beat a hasty retreat.

We then drove on along a series of little roads neither of us had been down before - always interesting. We stopped to eat a sandwich and on checking the map realised that that nearby hill with an interesting profile was none other than Dunsinane. Goodness, it would be a long hike from Birnam, particularly if you were a tree.....

Got back to find our asparagus crowns have arrived (that's tomorrow's task sorted) and a storm of texts and emails that included an invitation to a funeral and needed answering immediately and in a precise order.

Mr Yellowhammer was one of a pair who were dotting about looking for seeds near the visitor centre. What sweet little birds they are (even if they don't really ask for a-little-bit-of-bread-and-no-cheese!)
