Poet's Daffodil

Here's another pretty bloom which I discovered this afternoon hiding beneath a bushy camellia.  I've done a bit of research and learnt that it's a Narcissus Poeticus, or "Poet's Daffodil".  It may or may not have been planted by Dad at some point over the past eleven years.  He put in lots of bulbs, even last year, and they have come up this spring to remind us of him when we look out at his garden.

Daffodils and narcissi are Mum's favourite flowers because they make her think of the promise of summer days to come after the darkness of winter.  The Prophet Mohammed wrote -

"He that has two cakes of bread, let him sell one of them for some flowers of the Narcissus, for bread is food for the body, but Narcissus is food for the soul"
