The importance of layering

A magnetic "paper doll" is quite a useful tool for teaching a three year old about dressing appropriately for changeable weather. It only makes sense when you live somewhere that can be sweltering and humid one day and cold and windy the next. Of course, that doesn't happen without some titanic clashes of air masses and violent storms but that's another story.

When asked how one might dress for the family beach in Northern Wisconsin based on previous experiences, this is what was demonstrated. Smart little girl. We had a fabulous one-on-one lunch date today and watched Kung Fu Panda II snug under a blanky. For the 38th time. We talked about what she wanted for her birthday in August which is mostly the same stuff her sister just got. It was determined that bananas aren't fruit because there is no juice in them and nothing Mr. M could say convinced her otherwise. Then some back yard playtime and off she went, taking a chunk of my heart with.
