Kayak Trip to Mound Key

Camping at Koreshan State Park this weekend. Today we kayaked down the Estero River to Estero Bay to explore Mound Key.
The paddling was little hard with the weight of a full cooler on the back of the kayak and for some reason we were pulling the the left very dramatically for the while trip! But we enjoyed ourselves anyway.
Mound key was an interesting place with a strange mix of plants, lots of butterflies, a ton of dead horseshoe crabs, and a goat.
After exploring the key for a while we stopped in the bay to eat lunch and hide in some shade for a while. Wading around in the water there I found a couple of starfish and we harrased a crab. Saw lots of fish in and jumping out of the water and watched lots of ospreys diving for dinner.
Took our time going back up the river...avoiding the speeding boats and fighting our tenancy to turn left all the while.
Spotted this little hawk in what he thought was the perfect hiding place on our way back up the river. Was surprised at how close he allowed us to get! (My little waterproof camera doesn't have much of a zoom!)
